A SOCIAL MOVEMENT FOR AUSTRALIAN NURSES

Thanking our
mates in nursing

neddy4nurses is a social movement supporting nurses across Australia through raising awareness and funds.

OUR STORY

About Us

At just 20 years old, in the final weeks of his battle with osteosarcoma, Ned Ross Dalton was in constant pain and unable to move. Yet he still chose gratitude. Every day at home in Mudgee, he would ask whether the nurses caring for him had been offered a cup of tea.

Ned believed in looking out for the people looking after others. He didn’t set out to start a movement. He simply believed in showing up, saying thank you and giving back.

His family is now turning that daily ritual into something lasting, giving individuals, communities and corporations a way to thank nurses across the country.

That is neddy4nurses.

WHY OUR CAUSE MATTERS

Australia's Nurses are running out

More than half are considering leaving the profession. Most report burnout, high stress and emotional fatigue. Nearly a third of new nurses leave within their first year.

When Ned’s family offered nurses a coffee, more than once the gesture ended in tears. That response tells us the gap is real. As Dr Pamela Cipriano of the International Council of Nurses put it, “the world has treated nurses as an invisible and inexhaustible resource”. We think it’s time that changed.

Three ways to thank our mates in nursing

Our campaigns

mudgee4nurses

A community event in Mudgee, Ned's hometown, bringing the region together for a day of connection and giving. Local, welcoming, and built around the town that started it all. Details and dates to be announced.

cuppa4nurses

A pay-it-forward coffee movement, and the heart of everything we do. Buy a coffee for the next nurse who walks in, or a corporate can sponsor a tab, and a cafe holds it until a nurse arrives. A few dollars, two minutes, no paperwork.

pier2pier

A charity fun run and walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, from Pier One on the South Shore to the northern piers and back. Every participant runs in honour of a nurse they know, and every nurse crosses the finish line free.

Proudly supporting & endorsed by the Australian College of Nursing Foundation

All funds raised through neddy4nurses initiatives and projects are donated to the Australian College of Nursing Foundation (ACNF).

While neddy4nurses is endorsed by the ACN Foundation, we are an independent initiative and do not represent or act on behalf of the Foundation. The ACN Foundation manages all raised funds and project expenses directly, while providing valuable guidance and support.

We are incredibly grateful to the ACN Foundation for its support and commitment to helping us make these initiatives possible.
